A fixture of NYC, Amanda has called three of five boroughs home. She got her start in journalism working at her neighborhood paper, The Brooklyn Reporter, where she covered everything from politics to garbage pickups.

Amanda is currently the data editor at Crain’s New York Business, where she reports data-driven stories, collaborates with reporters on every beat to pursue investigations and creates graphics. She also edits Health Pulse, a daily newsletter examining the business of health care in the New York-area.

Prior to Crain’s Amanda was a media leadership fellow at CNN covering breaking news in the northeast, and worked with ProPublica covering the 2020 election.

Before earning her master’s degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, she was a research consultant for a wide range of companies including Facebook, Victoria’s Secret, and the NBA. She used everything from surveys to artificial intelligence to help her clients tell their stories and devise business strategies and enjoys infusing these tactics into her newsroom when she can.

Amanda decided to return to journalism because she believes in the power of stories to unite humans in an increasingly polarized world. She strives to make numbers narratives accessible to readers in the hope of breeding empathy and yielding understanding. She prides herself on being a team player and swinging for the fences.

When not working on her stories, Amanda admires the ocean, daydreams, crafts and cheers for her friends.
